Surplus Warehouse Attendant Tier #1
Hours per week: min. 10/max. 28.5
Hours of Operation: M-F, within 9:00* – 3:00* (*subject to change)
Pay rate $15.00-17.00
Role Purpose
The Surplus Warehouse Attendant plays a crucial role in the logistics and daily operations of the Surplus warehouse, primarily handling the physical movement of inventory and supporting a positive customer experience. Assist with additional Surplus tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Responsible for the physical handling of inventory.
- Receiving incoming surplus materials.
- Sorting and organizing materials for storage or processing.
- Storing all inventory accurately within the warehouse.
- Administrative Coordination: Collaborating with administrative personnel to coordinate inventory documentation and ensure accurate tracking of all received and stored items.
- Customer Service: Interacting professionally with a diverse customer base, including students, staff, faculty from Indiana University, and members of the public community.
Work Location
This position is off campus, located at the Surplus Warehouse at 1277 W 18th Street, Indianapolis, IN.
Note: The facility is approximately 1 mile from the main campus. A campus shuttle stop is conveniently located one block away at the BRTC building.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receiving, sorting, storing inventory - 60%
- Customer Service - 20%
- Drive university vehicle to conduct pick-ups - 10%
- Maintaining clean warehouse environment - 10%

Surplus IT Specialist Tier #1

Role Purpose
The Surplus IT Specialist is primarily responsible for managing, processing, and preparing used, retired, or excess electronic inventory (e.g., rebuilding computers) for resale. The goal is to process all electronics receivables into a 'ready to be sold' state.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Processing: Receiving, documenting, and sorting incoming electronic inventory, including PCs, Apple computers, and other electronic devices.
- Refurbishment and Rebuilding: Diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding electronic hardware. This includes the implementation of hardware and software applications to ensure full functionality.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring all rebuilt equipment complies with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards and current industry specifications.
- Customer Interaction: Engaging in customer service interactions and completing sales or redistributive transactions of processed equipment.
