Media Assistant
Hours per week: min. 10/max. 28.5
Hours of Operation: M-F, within 9:00* – 3:00* (*subject to change)
Pay rate $13-17.00
Role Purpose:
With an effort toward sustainability, IU Indianapolis Surplus works to redistribute, recycle, donate, or sell retired university property with the goal to be a minimal-to-zero landfill operation.
The media assistant position offers an opportunity for a current IU Indianapolis student to engage in selecting, staging, photographing, and uploading content from the Surplus inventory to sell on online platforms.
Tool and Equipment Used:
Camera, computer, pallet-jack, floor dolly, telephone
Work Location
This position is off campus, located at the Surplus Warehouse at 1277 W 18th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
Note: The facility is approximately 1 mile from the main campus. A campus shuttle stop is conveniently located one block away at the BRTC building.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- 40% testing, measuring, weighing selected items
- 30% photographing items
- 20% editing online template to include item information/test results
- 10% interacting with customers, in-person and via telephone
Required Qualifications
- Developed written/oral skills
- Ability to communicate formally with management & team members
- Reliable transportation
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Available to work onsite, within a M-F 9:00-3:00 window of time
